Oxford Sailing Club
Oxford Sailing Club operates on Farmoor Reservoir to the west of Oxford, between Cumnor village Cumnor and Farmoor village. It is easily reached from the A34, M40, A420 and the A40 and is shown on most road maps. Its location is generally well-signposted by brown-and-white amenity road signs.
Finding the club
M40 going South-East
Leave the M40 at Junction 9 taking the A34 south towards Oxford. Follow directions below for the A34.
M40 going North-West
Leave the motorway at Junction 8, taking the A40 towards the Oxford ring road. At the roundabout where you meet the Oxford Ring Road, turn right. Follow the ring road signs for the A34. Turn left on to the A34, heading South. Follow the directions below for the A34 (the next junction is for the A420 West)
A34 - going either North or South
Take the A420 exit, which goes West towards Swindon. After only about half a mile, take the first exit. At the T-junction, turn right, taking the B4044 towards Farmoor. There is a mini-roundabout as you enter the speed limit for Farmoor. Take the left turn along the B4017 towards Cumnor and Abingdon. Along this road there are three entrances which look as though they might get you access to the reservoir; only the third will get you in. . There is no need to stop at the gate house. The club house is visible from the car park.
A420 East
Approaching from the Swindon direction, take the B4017 exit (about 3-4 miles short of the Oxford Ring Road) in to the village of Cumnor. Turn left at T-junction and follow the road through the village towards Farmoor. There is a new mini-roundabout in the village; take the right fork. The reservoir can be clearly seen as you come down the hill. After a wiggly bit at the bottom, take the first major left hand turn into the car park.
Unloading
Drive up the ramp (which is the far side of the car park) to the club. Unload your boat (and any kit you need) on the grass triangle at the far end of the club buildings. Trailers should be stacked in an orderly heap at the top, or taken with your car down to the main car park.Parking
There is no parking available for vehicles at the top under any circumstances. You must unload your boat and any kit you need, then park your vehicle in the car park.
